Lieutenant General Walter E. Gaskin is retired United States Marine Corps Lieutenant General who served as the 19th Deputy Chairman of the NATO Military Committee from May 2009 to August 2013. In that role, he served as Acting Chairman of the NATO Military Committee from November 2011 to January 2012. Lieutenant General Gaskin served as the Commanding General of the 2d Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, NC from June 2006 until July 2008. In addition to this role, he simultaneously served as the Commanding General of II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward). During this tour, Lieutenant General Gaskin led II MEF (FWD) during its year-long deployment to Al Anbar Province, Iraq as the Commanding General of Multinational Forces-West.
Mark Cramer, JD
Mark Cramer is an attorney whose legal, consulting and management career has focused on leading and guiding non-profit, for-profit and governmental organizations at the local, state and federal levels. He helped found and was President of the Institute for Defense and Business from 2007 to 2014, providing a wide range of educational programs to active duty military across all Services, DoD civilians, and private defense sector personnel. He also served during this period as Executive Director of the Center of Excellence in Logistics and Technology (LOGTECH) at UNC Chapel Hill and as an adjunct faculty member at the Kenan-Flagler Business School. He recently retired as the Executive Director of the Greater Gaston Development Corporation which is chartered to bring the public, private, academic and non-profit sectors together to initiate deliberate growth strategies for Gaston County, N.C., and all the municipalities within its borders.
MGySgt Forest Spencer, Jr. serves as president of National Montford Point Marines Association. Since his election in 2015, Spencer has completed the fundraising effort and construction of the $1.8M Montford Point Marine Memorial at Lejeune Memorial Gardens in Jacksonville, NC. He transformed the internal business operations with NMPMA by implementing an accounting system based on best business practices and instituted an Association Management System to increase member and non-member engagement. Spencer led the creation of a strategic plan to secure the operations of the Montford Point Marine Museum. Upon his 2006 retirement from the Marine Corps, Spencer transferred to the civilian defense industry as a program manager for Northrop Grumman and then served as Director of Programs for United Federal Systems. He is currently Senior Vice President of Operations for Nelson Intelligence Solutions.
